After the recent two-week hiatus, it’s time to reflect on the 2019 European Tour season and look forward to the remaining events of this year’s Race to Dubai!
Shane Lowry is currently at the top of the rankings following his successes at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship back in January and more recently, The Open. Lowry has had an unforgettable year, not only has he won his first Major title on home soil in Ireland, he has also secured a top ten finish at the US PGA Championship. To top it all off, he has made the cut in eight of his nine starts during this term of the European Tour – some feat!
During the second part of this season, keep an eye on Tommy Fleetwood! Having been unable to defend his title last year in the Race to Dubai, his recent jump into the top five means that he’ll be determined to try and get to the final! Other players looking to compete against Lowry and Fleetwood are Jon Rham, Matt Wallace and Bernd Wiesberger who all have their chance to become European Tour Number One for the first time. Could we also see the first American Race to Dubai champion with Kevin Kisner and Xander Schauffele who are well in contention to get to the top spot!
With the change in structure for prize money this season, the $5 million bonus pool will be split between the top five players rather than the top ten – all the more incentive to aim for the top spot at this year’s finale!
